The President sends his Condolences to the American President

The President has send sympathies and Condolences to the American President and the Government on the terrorist attacks on the twin towers of New York, as well as on Pentagon. In a call to Mr. W. Lewis Amselem, the Charge d'Affaires of the American Embassy to the Maldives, the President conveyed the sympathies of the Government and the people of Maldives and that of his own to the President and the people of the United States of America. The President reiterated that the Government of the Maldives has always condemned all acts of terrorism. The President requested the Charge d'Affaires to convey condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families.

The Charge d'Affaires expressed his deep appreciation for the personal telephone call made by the President to convey his sympathy as well as those of the Government and people of the Maldives. He assured the President that he will quickly convey to the US President and the Government the sentiments expressed by the President and the people of Maldives.
