Alejandro Ortiz, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica ( right) at the Ministry’s New Kingston offices.
Foreign Minister, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, has announced the upcoming visit of Mr. Stefano Manservisi, Director-General for International Cooperation and Development in the European Commission based in Brussels.
Mr. Manservisi will lead a high level delegation to Kingston from 1 -2 February for regional and bilateral talks with several high level government representatives from Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, attended the Second Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, held in Santiago, Chile on 22nd January 2018, under the theme “CELAC-China: Working for more development, innovation and cooperation for our peoples”. The Meeting was designed to fine-tune the cooperation agenda for the period 2019 to 2021 between the People’s Republic of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, announces the appointment of Mr. Harold Malcolm, JP as High Commissioner Designate to Nigeria.
Mr. Malcolm, who will assume duty in February, is a trained lawyer having graduated with First Class Honours from the Norman Manley Law School in 2008. As a Chevening Scholar, he attended the London School of Economics and Political Science from 2009-2010, specialising in Human Rights Law.

Trade and Invest Jamaica (JAMPRO), in collaboration with the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA) and the Jamaica Exporters’ Association (JEA) will be hosting Expo Jamaica, 19th – 22nd April 2018 in Kingston, Jamaica. Jamaica joins the international community in commemorating Human Rights Day 2017. This year, Human Rights Day marks the beginning of a year-long campaign celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. The Declaration recognizes the inherent dignity and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family, regardless of race, colour, creed, sex, or national origin.

Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, will lead Jamaica’s delegation to the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference and preparatory meetings in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 9th-13th December 2017.
