Africa week 2014: UN support to the Africa THEY want!

For the fifth consecutive year, the UNHQ in New York hosted “Africa Week 2014” with the theme “The Africa We Want: UN Support to the African Union’s Agenda 2063”. During the event various topics were covered: the outbreak of Ebola and most importantly the link between the global post 2015 development agenda and its complementarity with the African Agenda 2063,  focusing on the regional objectives supported by the UN.

In 2009, the United Nations launched a global effort to increase the representation of female police to comprise 20 percent of United Nations police in peace operations by 2014. To reach this target goal, the Police Division of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations developed the All-Female Selection Assistance and Assessment Team (SAAT) Training Project.
