Presidency of the Security Council in November: Australia

GENERAL ASSEMBLY
High-level meeting on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, 20 November, at 11 AM, in the General Assembly Hall

The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will convene a United Nations International Meeting of Parliamentarians in Support of  Israeli-Palestinian Peace on “The role of parliamentarians in ensuring respect for international law”, on 21 November 2014, from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00, in the Economic and Social Council Chamber.

Under the Chairmanship of Australia, the Security Council adopted the first standalone resolution on police today, Thursday 20 November 2014, a major normative milestone. United Nations Police (UNPOL) activities in peace operations have grown in an unprecedented manner and evolved considerably since 1960, when the first police officers arrived in the United Nations Operation in the Congo.
