UN joins Earth Hour Lights Off Event this Saturday - Switch It Off!

Global | Greening the Blue

Earth Hour is an annual, international event that takes place on the 28th of March. Participants are invited to switch off their lights for one hour from 8.30 to 9.30 PM local time. Earth Hour was started by the World Wide Fund (WWF) back in 2007. Staff in all duty stations are invited to participate.

On Tuesday 10 March 2015, the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA), the Department of Public Information (DPI) and UN Women colleagues collectively hosted a High-level event themed “Towards a continental results Framework on Women, Peace and Security in Africa’’ at UN headquarters. The event was a great success and Conference Room 11 appeared too small to accommodate everyone.

Fifteen leading experts on Africa’s extractive industries assembled on 24 February 2015, for a lively discussion at UNHQ on the theme, “Towards the Post-2015 Development Agenda and the African Union Agenda 2063-Enhancing the management of Africa’s extractive industries to promote sustainable and inclusive industrial development, structural economic transformation and inclusive and resilient economic growth.”
