New York, 25 September 2026 — At the initiative of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), a high-level side event dedicated to security and development in the Sahel was held at United Nations Headquarters.

Before a packed audience, discussions focused on the challenges facing Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, as well as their determination to develop responses rooted in the priorities of their populations.

One strong message emerged: lasting peace and development must be built with the people of the Sahel, with respect for their choices and sovereignty.
