Persons with Student Visas Frequently Asked Questions
My United States visa is expiring. Can I travel to the Bahamas to visit the United States Embassy and obtain a new visa? No. The US Embassy in the Bahamas only issues visas to Bahamians.
I am a student with an I- 20 from and a passport. What is required for travel to The Bahamas? If you are from a country that does not require a visa to visit The Bahamas, you will need a valid passport along with a valid I-20 from. If you are from a country that requires a visa you will need to apply for a visa and provide a copy of your I-20 form.
Note: The same applies to a foreign exchange student with a valid IAP-66 from.
I am a student and my F-1 student visa has expired. Can I travel to The Bahamas? Yes. Students may travel to The Bahamas for a visit not exceeding 30 days once the I-20 from is valid and has been signed by the attending institution.
Note: I-20 form is valid if it was issued in the last year or if it has been endorsed within the last year by a school official.
I am a student and my F-1 visa is single entry only. Can I travel to The Bahamas? Yes you may travel to The Bahamas as long as your I-20 is valid.
Note: The same applies to a foreign exchange student holding a J1 visa and a valid IAP-66 from.
