Greetings from the Desk of The Permanent Representative
H.E. Paulette A. Bethel Ph.D. Ambassador & Permanent Representative
Your visit to our Website is most welcome and we trust that you will find it a rewarding and informative experience. We have put much thought into the design of our Website and we have done a great deal of research to determine what information might be of interest to our prospective visitors. We sincerely hope that we have accurately gauged, at least to some extent, your interests and that the Website will be a useful tool in accessing information on the Permanent Mission of The Bahamas to the United Nations, as well as on other matters concerning our country and its role in the international arena. The Bahamas became a Member State of the United Nations some thirty years ago, shortly after attaining Independence on July 10, 1973. We have continued to support the United Nations over the years and have always endeavored to be actively engaged in its work and development. At this site, you will find information on the activities of the Permanent Mission within the various Committees and bodies of the United Nations.
The Bahamas has always been and continues to be a keen advocate of multilateralism. Hence, we are active participants not only in the United Nations, but also in other international fora, including the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Commonwealth, and the Organization of American States (OAS). You will note, therefore, that information and links to these bodies are also provided herein.
On the homepage, there are numerous links to governmental, quasi-governmental, and non-governmental bodies in The Bahamas itself which will provide you with a plethora of information on the country we proudly call home.
We hope that you enjoy your sojourn through our pages and would invite you to submit any comments or inquiries you may wish to us at mission@bahamasny.com.
Thank you for your interest in The Bahamas. Ambassador & Permanent Representative of The Permanent Mission of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas to the United Nations
